Free Open Graph (OG) Tag Generator
Control how your pages look when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and X. Fill in the details and copy a clean block of Open Graph and Twitter Card tags into your page <head>.
What is Open Graph?
Open Graph is a protocol (originally from Facebook) that lets you control the title, description and image that appear when your page is shared on social media. Add the tags once and every platform that supports OG — Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, Pinterest — uses them.
X (Twitter) reads OG tags too, but adds its own Twitter Card tags for finer control, which is why this tool outputs both.
Getting the share image right
- Use 1200×630px. It is the safe size that renders large and uncropped everywhere.
- Use an absolute URL (starting with https://) — relative paths break in social crawlers.
- Keep text readable at small sizes; the image is often shown as a thumbnail.
- Re-scrape after changes using Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn’s Post Inspector to clear the cache.
Frequently asked questions
Do Open Graph tags help SEO?
Not directly as a ranking factor, but they dramatically improve how your links look when shared, which lifts click-through and social traffic — both good for your overall visibility.
Why is my old image still showing after I changed the OG tags?
Social platforms cache previews. Run your URL through Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn’s Post Inspector and re-scrape to force an update.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
X falls back to Open Graph if Twitter tags are missing, but adding twitter:card lets you force the large-image layout, so including both is best practice.
Is this generator free?
Yes — free, no sign-up, generated entirely in your browser.
